The innovative, experimental noise rock band Parts & Labor was formed in 2002 in Brooklyn, NY by Dan Friel and B.J. Warshaw.  Since then, they have released six albums that mix harsh with harmonic as well as chronicle their evolution in sound, described in a 2008 interview with Idiomag as having gone from a scrappy punk trio to a mature art-rock group utilizing all kinds of creative possibilities.  For example, on their 2008 record Receivers (Jagjaguwar), they asked for and used every one of the hundreds of found sounds submitted by fans on the album.  Their experimental and collaborative nature is inspired by free jazz, Roger Waters' ingenuity, glitchy oscillations, and anthemic vocals, all of which they combine to create noise with a purpose.
